By operation of federal law, beginning January 1, 2013, funds deposited in a noninterest-bearing transaction account (including an Interest on Lawyer Trust Account) no longer will receive unlimited deposit insurance coverage by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Beginning January 1, 2013, all of a depositor's accounts at an insured depository institution, including all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts, will be insured by the FDIC up to the standard maximum deposit insurance amount ($250,000), for each deposit insurance ownership category.

Safeguarding Your Information

At Ipava State Bank the security of customer information is a priority. We are strongly committed to the safety and confidentiality of your records. Every day, unscrupulous individuals are busy developing new scams targeting the unsuspecting public. One of the best ways to avoid fraud is to become an educated consumer. In order to help ensure the security of your online transactions we recommend the following:

  • Protect yourself from fraudulent Web sites, calls, and e-mails.
  • Watch out for copycat Web sites that deliberately use a name or Web address very similar to, but not the same as the real one. The intent is to lure you into clicking through to their Web site and giving out your personal information, such as a bank account number, credit card number or Online Banking login information.
  • Always use your pre-established links to access Web sites and avoid clicking on links in unsolicited e-mails. If you ever receive a suspicious e-mail representing itself as Ipava State Bank (ISB), please do not open it and call ISB immediately at 309-753-8202.
  • We will never email, call or otherwise ask you for your user name, password or other electronic banking credentials.
  • Ensure that your own personal computer has updated anti-virus and firewall protections. Apply security patches for all of your programs and operating systems regularly.
  • Passwords should be unique to you and changed regularly. Do not use birthdays or other numbers or words that may be easy for others to guess. Never write down your password or give it to another person.
  • Monitor your account activity frequently using our free Online and Telephone Banking services.
  • Sign up for free Online eStatements to avoid having your paper statement sitting in an unsecure mailbox where it could be compromised.

We suggest that commercial online banking customers perform a related risk assessment and controls evaluation periodically. You should determine what risks related to online transactions that your business faces and then evaluate the controls you have in place.

The Federal Reserve Board's Regulation E provides consumers with some protections for electronic fund transfers. Reg E establishes limits on a consumer's liability for unauthorized electronic funds transfers and generally applies to accounts with Internet access. There are specific procedures you need to follow to help resolve errors with your account. In order to take advantage of the protections afforded by the Regulation, you must act in a timely manner. You need to notify us immediately if you believe that your account access information has been stolen or compromised. You also need to review your account activity and periodic statement and report any errors or unauthorized transactions immediately. Refer to the Electronic Fund Transfers - Your Rights and Responsibilities disclosures that were provided at account opening for more information or ask us for a copy and we will gladly provide you with one.

We encourage you to review our Privacy link that can be found on the left side of any page of our website (www.ipavastatebank.com).
